Nicotinamide, a member of the family of water-soluble B vitamins, is generally produced from nicotinic acid (vitamin B3). It is often present in food products. It has been reported to have been effective in the treatment of pellagra, psoriasis, schizophrenia, and type I diabetes. It is also shown to possess anti-inflammatory activity.
