Pentafluorophenylhydrazine may be used as a derivatizing agent in the determination of semi-volatile carbonyl compounds in air and human plasma samples, using high-resolution gas chromatography coupled with gas chromatography (HRGC-MS) and liquid chromatography atmospheric-pressure chemical-ionization mass spectrometry (LC-APCI-MS-MS), respectively.
