Homogentisic acid is a phenolic acid which is obtained as an intermediate, in the catabolism of tyrosine and phenylalanine.

Application

Homogentisic acid may be used as an analytical reference standard for the determination of the analyte in strawberry tree honey samples, urine samples and biological fluids using chromatography based techniques.
