General description
Difenoconazole is a broad-spectrum systematic triazole fungicide that controls foliar, seed, and soil-borne diseases caused by ascomycetes, basidiomycetes, and deuteromycetes infecting tobacco, cereals, fruits, vegetables, ornamentals, and other crops. Difenoconazole inhibits fungal cytochrome P450 sterol 14α-demethylase (cyp51) activity and blocks ergosterol biosynthesis, thus hindering the chitin synthesis of the fungal cell, resulting in cell death. It has strong internal absorption and is characterized by high efficiency, broad-spectrum application, low toxicity, and low required dosage.
Difenoconazole has to be monitored in the Multiannual Control Programme for Pesticides Residues (MACP), run within the EU and EFTA in/on products of plant origin.
Difenoconazole is approved for use in European Union as per Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009. Maximum residue levels (MRLs) for Difenoconazole have been set according to Regulation (EU) No 2019/552 for products of animal origin from 0.005 to 0.2 mg/kg and plants from 0.05 to 20 mg/kg.
Application
- Study the developmental effects of difenoconazole and its mechanism on zebrafish embryos
- To develop a sample preparation and detection method for the determination of difenoconazole residue in banana fruits, pulp, and peels by GC-ECD
- Determination of difenoconazole residue in Chinese cabbage and soil using a solid phase extraction (SPE) cleanup and gas chromatography method
- Determination of difenoconazole residue in tomato paste during home canning using ultra-performance liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS)
- To develop an analytical method for the determination of abamectin and difenoconazole in stingless bee M. scutellaris by LC-MS/MS
