General description

Butyl stearate is a fatty acid ester, which has application in cosmetics, personal care products, and as an emollient in food industries.
This substance is listed on the positive list of the EU regulation 10/2011 for plastics intended to come into contact with food.

Application

Butyl stearate may be used as an analytical standard for the determination of the analyte in cosmetic products and fruit-based baby foods by various chromatography techniques. It may be used as an internal standard for the determination of fungicides in fruit juice and wine samples by capillary gas chromatography and for the analysis of lysinoalanine in food proteins by gas-liquid chromatography (GLC).
