General description

Ginsenoside Rk1 is the major bioactive component isolated from heat-processed Panax ginseng Meyer (ginseng) plants. It is a monomeric compound that has been reported to exhibit anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, and anti-tumor properties and is utilized for the treatment of cancer and diabetes mellitus.[1][2]

Application

Ginsenoside Rk1 may be used as an analytical reference standard for the determination of the analyte in Panax ginseng preparations[3][4] and Chinese medicine formula Sheng-Mai San (SMS) and rat plasma samples (post administration of SMS)[5] by chromatography techniques.

Other Notes

This compound is commonly found in plants of the genus: panax
