Application

N-(1-Naphthyl)ethylenediamine dihydrochloride dissolved in sulfuric acid-methanol may be used as a reagent for the determination of sugar on thin layer plates.[1] It may also be used for the determination of sub-micromolar concentrations of nitrite ion after diazotisation with sulphanilic acid at low pH, by differential-pulse polarography.[2] It may also be used as the coupling agent for the spectrophotometric determination of aniline by the diazotization-coupling method.[3]

S-nitrosothiols have been shown to affect a number of physiological functions. Several techniques have been used to detect these species in biological systems, primarily by methods utilizing chemiluminescence. Since the apparatus required for measurement of chemiluminescence are not readily available

A novel flow-injection spectrophotometry has been developed for the determination of molybdenum(VI) at nanograms per milliliter levels. The method is based on the catalytic effect of molybdenum(VI) on the bromate oxidative coupling of p-hydrazinobenzenesulfonic acid with N-(1-naphthyl)ethylenediamine to form an
