General description

Patulin (PAT) is a mycotoxin of the polyketide lactone type, usually produced by species of the Penicillium, Aspergillus and Byssochlamys genera.

Application

PAT may be used as a reference standard for the determination of patulin in:
  • Fruit-based products by QuEChERS (Quick, Easy, Cheap, Effective, Rugged and Safe) method and solid phase extraction (SPE) followed by analysis using ultra-high performance liquid chromatography combined with electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC-ESI-MS/MS).
  • Apple juice samples by single drop liquid-liquid-liquid microextraction (SD-LLLME) followed by LC-MS/MS analysis.
  • Model food matrices by “dilute and shoot” LC-MS/MS.
  • Dairy products by QuEChERS procedure and UHPLC-ESI quadrupole orbitrap (Q-Orbitrap) mass spectrometry.

Refer to the product′s Certificate of Analysis for more information on a suitable instrument technique. Contact Technical Service for further support.
