General description

Application

Selected application examples
Calcium ionophore IV (ETH 5234) was used in preparing membrane for the pseudoreference electrode in tetrahydrofuran, in a study to demonstrate electrochemical sample matrix elimination for trace level potentiometric detection.
Calcium ionophore IV may be used in the preparation of Ca2+-selective membrane utilizing AlGaN/GaN transistors for potentiometric calcium ion detection.

Packaging

Bottomless glass bottle. Contents are inside inserted fused cone.

Other Notes

Extremely lipophilic Ca2+-selective ionophore for chemical sensors of long lifetime; it induces selectivities for Ca over Mg, Na and K of 104, 106, and 108, respectively.

We demonstrate highly selective and sensitive potentiometric ion sensors for calcium ion detection, operated without the use of a reference electrode. The sensors consist of AlGaN/GaN heterostructure-based transistor devices with chemical functionalisation of the gate area using poly (vinylchloride)-based (PVC)

Potentiometric sensors are today sufficiently well understood and optimized to reach ultratrace level (subnanomolar) detection limits for numerous ions. In many cases of practical relevance, however, a high electrolyte background hampers the attainable detection limits. A particularly difficult sample matrix

A novel magnesium-selective ion-channel mimetic sensor based on a well-known calcium ionophore, ETH 5234, was demonstrated. Due to different stoichiometry of the ionophore with Mg(2+) and Ca(2+), the sensor exhibits high selectivity to Mg(2+) by controlling ionophore concentration on the
