Application

Bis(dimethylamino)-dimethyl silane was used to silanize pH-sensitive microelectrodes, used to measure the membrane potential in oocytes, in an experimental procedure aimed towards cloning and characterising human electrogenic Na+-cotransporter isoform (hhNBC). It was also used for microelectrode measurements, in a study conducted to measure carbon dioxide transport through membranes.

Other Notes

Derivatization reagent for steroids: the (dimethylamino)dimethylsilyl derivatives can be analyzed by GC using a nitrogen-phosphorus detector; Protection of diols, diamines, etc.
