General description

Methyl trans-vaccenate belongs to the class of unsaturated fatty acid methyl esters. These unsaturated fatty acids are easily oxidized. Flush open containers with argon or nitrogen and store at -20°C, in dark.

Application

Methyl trans-vaccenate may be used as an analytical reference standard in the following:
  • Determination of the analyte subjected to cellular fatty acid profile analysis by gas chromatography (GC) and GC-mass spectrometry (MS).
  • Quantification of the analyte via determining the milk fatty acid profile in lactating ewes exposed to high ambient temperature using gas chromatography with flame ionization detection.
