General description

Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid disodium salt dihydrate (EDTA-Na2), is a well known complexation agent with various uses in chemical synthesis, analytical chemistry, and biochemistry. In chemical synthesis, EDTA-Na2 combines with polyvalent cations to form a soluble non-ionic complex that can be removed from solution, which helps prevent undesired side reactions.

Application

Chelator of divalent cations. Inhibits enzymes, such as metalloproteases, that require divalent cations for activity.
