This BSH-activatable luciferin (BAL) probe provides a noninvasive optical readout-based method for quantifying BSH activity. Biological applications include measurement of BSH activity of pure enzyme, or diverse samples such as live bacteria, fecal samples, or through the use of in vivo noninvasive imaging.
