Gene Information

human ... RSPO2(340419)

General description

R-spondin-2 (UniProt: Q6UXX9; also known as Roof plate-specific spondin-2, hRspo2) is encoded by the RSPO2 (also known as UNQ9384/PRO34209) gene (Gene ID: 340419) in human. R-spondin-2 is a secreted protein that acts as an activator of the canonical Wnt signaling pathway by acting as a ligand for LGR receptors. Upon binding to LGR receptors (LGR4, LGR5 or LGR6) these receptors associate with phosphorylated LRP6 and frizzled receptors, which are activated by extracellular Wnt receptors. These events trigger the canonical Wnt signaling pathway to increase expression of target genes. R-spondin-2 also regulates the canonical Wnt/beta-catenin-dependent pathway and non-canonical Wnt signaling pathway by acting as an inhibitor of ZNRF3, an E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase that serves as an important regulator of the Wnt signaling pathway. In humans, R-Spondin 2 is expressed in organs of endodermal origin in adults, including intestine and lungs and is reported to downregulated in tumors involving these organs. In the embryonic mice it is abundantly expressed in the hippocampus and in developing bones.

Specificity

Clone 14C7.1 specifically detects human R-spondin-2. It targets an epitope within 74 amino acids from the C-terminal end.

Immunogen

GST/His-tagged recombinant fragment corresponding to 74 amino acids from the C-terminal end of human R-Spondin 2.

Application

Anti-R-Spondin 2, clone 14C7.1, Cat. No. MABS1709, is a mouse monoclonal antibody that specifically targets R-Spondin 2 (RSPO2) and has been tested for use in Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin) and Western Blotting.
Immunohistochemistry Analysis: A 1:250 dilution of this antibody detected RSPO2 in human pancreas, human kidney, and human bone marrow tissue.
