Gene Information

General description

Stathmin-like 2 (STMN2) protein is a phospho-protein and functions in microtubule dynamics and signal transduction. Studies show STMN2 plays a regulatory role in neuronal growth and thought to be involved in osteogenesis. Reduced levels, i.e. reduction in expression, have been associated with Down′s syndrome and Alzheimer′s disease. Data also suggests that STMN2 may play a role in modulating membrane interaction with the cytoskeleton during neurite outgrowth.

Immunogen

Epitope: C-terminus
Linear peptide corresponding to the C-terminus of rat STMN2.

Application

Detect STMN using this mouse monoclonal antibody, Anti-STMN2 Antibody, clone L5/1 validated for use in western blotting, IHC & ICC.

Of the various microtubule-associated molecules, beta-tubulin III has been reported to be closely associated with the therapeutic efficacy of taxane-based chemotherapy against ovarian cancer. Stathmin and microtubule-associated protein 4 (MAP4) have been reported to play an important role in microtubule

The family of WD40-repeat (WDR) proteins is one of the largest in eukaryotes, but little is known about their function in brain development. Among 26 WDR genes assessed, we found 7 displaying a major impact in neuronal morphology when inactivated
