General description

Activation-induced cytidine deaminase (AID) is a 24 kDa, RNA-editing protein that is necessary for the initiation of both somatic hypermutation (SHM) and class switch recombination (CSR) of the Ig gene through the production of U:G mismatches in DNA, and is primarily found in activated B cells. AID expression has also been observed in several varying types of B cell lymphomas such as; Burkitt’s lymphoma, Hodgkin’s lymphoma, hairy cell lymphoma, follicular lymphoma, mantle cell lymphoma, mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma, and mediastinal B cell lymphoma. Mutations in AID expression are causal to autosomal recessive hyper-IgM immunodeficiency syndrome type 2 (HIGM2), which is characterized by serum containing IgM but lacking IgG, IgA and IgE, which leads to severe susceptibility to bacterial infections.

Immunogen

KLH-conjugated linear peptide corresponding to human Activation-induced cytidine deaminase (AID).

Activation-induced cytidine deaminase (AID, Aicda) is a master gene regulating class switching of immunoglobulin genes. In this study, we investigated the significance of AID expression in the ovary. Immunohistological study and RT-PCR showed that AID was expressed in murine granulosa
