Specificity

Met5- and Leu5-enkephalin. Displays about 40% cross-reactivity with C-terminal extended Met-enkephalin hexapeptides and 7% cross-reactivity with the extended heptapeptide (-Arg-Phe-OH) but does not recognize pro-enkephalin or other endogenous peptides (Cuello, 1984). By immunohistochemistry the antibody lables all sites that are known to exppress enkephalin and shows no cross-reactivity to beta-endorphin or dynorphin (Cuello, 1984; MacMillan and Cuello, 1986).

Immunogen

Leu5-enkephalin conjugated to BSA.

Application

Detect Enkephalin using this Anti-Enkephalin Antibody, clone NOC1 validated for use in IC, IH.
Immunohistochemistry: 1:100-1:400 on 10 μm cryostat sections of rat and guinea-pig brain stem using fluorescently labled secondary antibodies for detection (Cuello, 1984; MacMillan and Cuello, 1986).

Immunocytochemistry: 1:300 on primary cultures of rat striatal and hippocampal neurons using a Cy2 or Cy3 conjugated secondary antibody for detection (Saudou, 1998).

Radioimmunoassay (Cuello, 1984)

Optimal working dilutions must be determined by the end user.
