General description

LDL constitutes 50% of the total lipoprotein mass in plasma and is the major carrier of cholesterol and cholesteryl esters. LDL levels strongly correlate with coronary heart disease.

Physical form

Liquid in 150 mM NaCl, pH 7.4 with 0.01% EDTA. Prepared by sequential flotation ultracentrifugation technique using KBr for density adjustments. Protein is determined by modified Lowry method using BSA as the standard. COMPOSITION: 78-80% lipid, 22-20% protein; CHOLESTROL: 5/44 mg/mL (varies with lot) TRIGLYCERIDE: 1/67 mg/mL (varies with lot)

Storage and Stability

Maintain at 2-8ºC in undiluted aliquots for up to 3 months. Do Not Freeze. All blood products should be treated as potentially infectious.
