General description

Transient receptor potential cation channel subfamily M member 8 (TRPM8) is also known as Long transient receptor potential channel 6 (LTrpC-6), and Transient receptor potential p8 (Trp-p8). TRPM8 is a receptor-activated non-selective cation channel involved in detection of sensations such as coolness. TRPM8 is activated by icilin, eucalyptol, menthol, cold and changes to intracellular pH. TRPM8 is expressed in prostate as well as tumors of the prostate, colon, lung, breast and skin. TRPM8 expression in most prostate tumors and the presence of an immunogenic epitope suggest that it may be suitable for the design of peptide vaccination strategies for prostate cancers.

Specificity

Other homologies: Bovine (88% sequence homology), Canine (71% sequence homology), and Mouse and Rat (53% sequence homology).
This antibody recognizes the cytoplasmic domain of TRPM8. This antibody will recognize isoform 1.

Immunogen

Epitope: Cytoplasmic domain
KLH-conjugated linear peptide corresponding to the cytoplasmic domain of human TRPM8.

Application

Detect TRPM8 using this rabbit polyclonal antibody, Anti-TRPM8 Antibody validated for use in western blotting & IHC (Paraffin).
Immunohistochemistry Analysis: A 1:1,000 dilution from a representative lot detected TRPM8 in human prostate cancer and breast cancer cells.
