Gene Information
mouse ... Brd4(57261)
General description
Bromodomain-containing protein 4 (Brd4), or Mitotic chromosome-associated protein (MCAP), is a chromatin reader protein and kinase that recognizes and binds acetylated histones and plays a key role in the transmission of epigenetic memory across cell divisions and transcription regulation. Brd4 remains associated with acetylated chromatin throughout the entire cell cycle and provides epigenetic memory for post mitotic G1 gene transcription by preserving acetylated chromatin status and maintaining high-order chromatin structure. During interphase, Brd4 plays a key role in regulating the transcription of signal-inducible genes by associating with the P-TEFb complex and recruiting it to promoters. Brd4 is widely expressed and localized to the nucleus and acetylated chromatin. Brd4 also plays a large role in many cancers, and through its regulation of transcription, Brd4 is important in multiple cellular processes including DNA damage responses, aging, and development.

This Anti-Brd4 Antibody is validated for use in Western Blotting and Chromatin Immunoprecipitation (ChIP) and Immunocytochemistry for the detection of Brd4.
Western Blotting Analysis: A representative lot of this antibody was reported to detect Brd4 protein in a HeLa cell lysate (Alsarraj J., et al. (2013). Also see Anup, D., et al. (2003) and Mochizuki, K., et al. (2008) for additional data using mouse embyronic fibroblasts and NIH3T3 cells.
Chromatin Immunoprecipitation (ChIP): A representative lot of this antibody was reported to work in ChIP using chromatin from NIH3T3 cells. See Mochizuki, K., et al. (2008) and Anup, D., et al. (2009).
Immunocytochemistry: A representative lot of this antibody was reported to work in ICC. See Anup, D., et al. (2000) and Anup, D., et al. (2009).
