Specificity

Recognizes ASIC2. The epitope used for the immunogen is specific for ASIC2 and is not similar to any other known protein. The epitope is not specific for ASIC2b (MDEG2) splice variant.

SPECIES REACTIVITIES: It is expected that the antibody will also react with mouse due to immunogen sequence homology (100%). Reactivity with other species has not yet been tested.

Immunogen

Epitope: neuronal
Highly purified peptide corresponding to residues 2-18 of rat or human ASIC2 (Accession Q16515).

Application

Anti-Acid Sensitive Ion Channel 2 Antibody, neuronal is an antibody against Acid Sensitive Ion Channel 2 for use in WB.
Research Category
Neuroscience
Research Sub Category
Ion Channels & Transporters
Western blotting: 1:200 using ECL on rat brain membranes.

Dilutions should be made using a carrier protein such as BSA (1-3%).

Optimal working dilutions must be determined by the end user.

Physical form

Affinity purified immunoglobulin. Lyophilized from PBS, pH 7.4, containing 1% BSA, 5% sucrose and 0.025% sodium azide. Reconstitute with 50 μL of sterile distilled water. Centrifuge antibody preparation before use (10,000 x g for 5 min).

Storage and Stability

Maintain lyophilized material at -20°C for up to 6 months. After reconstitution maintain at -20°C in undiluted aliquots for up to 6 months. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

Analysis Note

Control
CONTROL ANTIGEN: Included free of charge with the antibody is 40 μg of control antigen (lyophilized powder). The antigen should be reconstituted with 100 μL of deionized water. For negative control, preincubate 1 μg of purified peptide with 1 μg of antibody for one hour at room temperature. Optimal concentrations must be determined by the end user.

Other Notes

Concentration: Please refer to the Certificate of Analysis for the lot-specific concentration.

Members of the BNaC/ASIC family of ion channels have been implicated in mechanotransduction and nociception mediated by dorsal root ganglion (DRG) neurons. These ion channels are also expressed in the CNS. We identified the PDZ domain protein PICK1 as an

Ion channels in the degenerin-epithelial sodium channel (DEG-ENaC) family perform diverse functions, including mechanosensation. Here we explored the role of the vertebrate DEG-ENaC protein, acid-sensing ion channel 2 (ASIC2), in auditory transduction. Contributions of ASIC2 to hearing were examined by

Acid-sensing ion channels (ASICs) are voltage-insensitive cation channels that contribute to cellular excitability. We previously reported that ASIC1 in pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells (PASMC) contribute to pulmonary vasoreactivity and vascular remodeling during the development of chronic hypoxia (CH)-induced pulmonary
