Gene Information

human ... AGRP(181)

General description

Agouti-related peptide-expressing (AgRP) neurons seem to be critical for the acute regulation of eating. The AgRP protein is a strong antagonis of MC3-R and MC4-R and is expressed primarily in the adrenal gland, subthalamic nucleus, and hypothalamus, with a lower level of expression occurring in testis, lung, and kidney.

Specificity

Recognizes AGRP. The immunogen shows no significant sequence homology with Agouti, tubby, tub, TULP1 or TULP2.

SPECIES REACTIVITIES: The immunogen sequence is 85% homologous with human and bovine. Reactivity with other species has not been confirmed.

Immunogen

A 15 amino acid peptide near the C-terminus of mouse AGRP (Shutter et al. 1997; Ollmann et al. 1997).

Application

Detect Agouti Related Protein using this Anti-Agouti Related Protein Antibody validated for use in ELISA & WB.
