Gene Information

General description

Integrin beta1 is a transmembrane glycoprotein that forms noncovalent complexes with various alpha integrin subunits to form the functional receptors that bind to specific extracellular matrix proteins. Integrin receptors are involved in cell adhesion and recognition in a variety of processes including embryogenesis, hemostasis, tissue repair, immune response and metatastatic diffusion of tumor cells. Interactions between integrins and extracellular matrix lead to activation of signal transduction pathways and regulation of gene expression. Phosphorylation of threonines 788 and 789 on integrin beta1 receptor may play a key role in cell-cycle dependent regulation.

Specificity

The antibody detects a 130 kDa protein of integrin beta1 receptor.

Immunogen

Epitope: pT788/789
Phosphorylated synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acid residues surrounding and including threonine 788/789 of the human beta1 integrin. The immunogen sequence is 100% identical in mouse, rat and chicken integrin beta1.

Application

Anti-Integrin β1 Antibody, phospho-specific [Thr788/Thr789] is an antibody against Integrin β1 for use in WB.

Establishment of cell-cell adhesion is crucial in embryonic development as well as within the stem cell niches of an adult. Adhesion between macrophages and erythroblasts is required for the formation of erythroblastic islands, specialized niches where erythroblasts proliferate and differentiate

Insulin is present in most maintenance media for human embryonic stem cells (hESCs), but little is known about its essential role in the cell survival of individualized cells during passage. In this article, we show that insulin suppresses caspase cleavage
