General description

Monocarboxylate Transporter 1 (MCT1), also known as Solute carrier family 16 member 1 (SLC16A1), catalyzes the rapid transport across the plasma membrane of many monocarboxylates such as lactate, pyruvate, branched-chain oxo acids derived from leucine, valine and isoleucine, and the ketone bodies acetoacetate, beta-hydroxybutyrate and acetate. Monocarboxylate Transporter 1 is located in the cell membrane, and is widely expressed in both normal and cancer cells. Monocarboxylate Transporter 1 is involved in symptomatic deficiency in lactate transport (SDLT).

Specificity

This antibody recognizes the C-terminus of Monocarboxylate Transporter 1.

Immunogen

Epitope: C-terminus
KLH-conjugated linear peptide corresponding to the C-terminus of rat Monocarboxylate Transporter 1.

Application

Anti-Monocarboxylate Transporter 1 Antibody is a highly specific chicken polyclonal antibody, that targets MCT1 & has been tested in western blotting & IHC (Paraffin).
Immunohistochemistry Analysis: A 1:2,500 dilution from a representative lot detected rat skeletal muscle and rat renal cortex tissues.

Quality

Evaluated by Western Blot in rat brain membrane tissue lysate.

Western Blotting Analysis: 0.5 µg/mL of this antibody detected rat brain membrane tissue lysate in 10 µg of rat brain membrane tissue lysate.

Target description

Bands are observed at ~44 kDa and ~55 kDa This protein has been observed at ~47 kDa (Sepponen, K., et al. (2003). Acta Physiol Scand. 177(1):79-86.). In addition this protein has been observed at ~55 kDa in certain cell lysates, except in the rumen where two distinct bands appear at ~47 kDa and ~55 kDa (Koho, N., et al. (2005). Comp Biochem Physiol A Mol Integr Physiol. 141(1):29-34.). It is also known to be glycosylated (Carpenter, L., et al. (1996). Biochim Biophys Acta. 1279(2):157-163).
