Application

100 mM IPTG Solution - Novagen has been used to:

  • induce expression of an anti-CD11b-nanobody with a sortase recognition tag in Chalmers (WK6) cells
  • induce expression in calcium-independent sortase from BL21(DE3) cells
  • turn on bacterial protein production of the protein A/G-MNase

Biochem/physiol Actions

Isopropyl-β-D-1-thiogalactopyranoside (IPTG) is an inducer of the lacoperon. It is highly recommended for blue/white screening using lacZα-complementation in appropriate vectors and host strains, for example, pSTBlue-1/NovaBlue. In addition, it is also used for inducing protein expression with the pET system and various lac promoter-derived expression systems. IPTG is supplied as a sterile aqueous solution and is free of dioxane. It comes in convenient volumes of 10 × 1.5 ml. IPTG is used in bacterial cultures to induce the expression of plasmid-based genes to produce recombinant proteins under the control of the lac promoter.
