General description

Recombinant, human hepatocyte growth factor expressed in S. frugiperda insect cells. Pleiotropic growth factor that has also been called scatter factor, hepatopoietin A, and mammary growth factor. Through binding to its high affinity met receptor, HGF has marked and varied effects on hepatocytes and other epithelial and endothelial cell types. HGF-induced proliferation of primary hepatocytes is mediated by activation of PI 3-kinase. Acts as a potent mitogen for mature hepatocytes.

Physical form

Lyophilized from a sterile-filtered solution in 20 mM Sodium Phosphate, 0.5 M NaCl, 50 µg BSA/µg HGF, pH 7.0.

Reconstitution

Following reconstitution, aliquot and freeze (-70°C) for long term storage or refrigerate (4°C) for short term storage. Avoid freeze/thaw cycles of solutions. Stock solutions are stable for 1 month at 4°C or for up to 3 months at -70°C.
Reconstitute to a concentration of ≥1 µg/ml in sterile PBS containing ≥0.1% HSA or BSA.
