General description

Plate Count Agar medium is suitable for the enumeration of the total viable count. The pH is in the optimum range of 6.8-7.2 for the growth of bacteria. The media is relatively rich in its nutrients and does not contain any inhibitors or indicators. The enzymatic digest of casein serves as a nitrogen source with high levels of free amino acids followed by yeast extract, which is a rich source of vitamins. Glucose serves as the carbon source for the efficient growth of bacteria.

Application

Plate Count Agar medium is used for the enumeration of the total viable microbial count on a wide variety of food, water and beverage products. e.g. dairy products, bottled water, fruit juices etc.
