General description

ReadyPlate agar plates are stackable specially designed plates that helps increase the safety during handling, transport and incubation. ReadyPlate agar plates are of standard 90mm diameter. Sabouraud Dextrose Agar (SDA) is a complex medium for cultivation and isolation of yeasts and molds as well as the absence test for Candida albicans. The high concentration of dextrose in addition with the low pH promotes the growth, the formation of spores (conidia and sporangia) as well as the formation of pigments of yeasts and molds. Growth of bacteria is inhibited.

Application

Sabouraud Dextrose Agar is used for the identification of yeasts and molds in food and environmental samples. It is particularly recommended for the analysis of beverages in which yeasts are a predominant ingredient
