General description

FREY Agar is supplemented with swine serum to provide assimilable cholesterol and fatty acids, and NAD allows the growth of M. synoviae. Phenol red in the medium changes the color of the medium to yellow or purple, indicating the growth of mycoplasmas. Furthermore, penicillin inhibits the growth of accompanying bacterial flora.
