The total hardness test can be used to determine the water hardness for heating systems, coffee machines, dishwasher and washing machines, allowing to optimize the dosing of water softeners and use of water filters. Water hardness is caused by the presence of alkaline earths, primarily calcium and magnesium. Total hardness is measured as the sum of all calcium and magnesium ions. Total hardness test strips simplify the detection of water hardness by providing a convenient and straightforward testing process on-the-spot. The procedure is simple and convenient, and the clear color changes from green to red provide reliable results within seconds. To use the test strips, simply dip them in the water, wait for the specified time, and then read the results.
