Gene Information

human ... KDM2B(84678)

General description

JmjC domain-containing histone demethylation protein 1B, also known as Lysine-specific demethylase 2B, is a nuclear enzyme encoded by the JHDM1B gene (also known as KDM2B) in human. JHDM1A/KDM2B exhibits H3K36-specific demethylase activity with a preference for H3K36me2 over H3K36me and H3K36me3 (PMID 16362057). JHDM1A/KDM2B is also reported to negatively regulate cell proliferation by targeting rDNA and thereby repressing the transcription of rRNA in a JmjC-domain-dependent manner (PMID 17994099).

Immunogen

KLH-conjugated linear peptide corresponding to human JHDM1B.

Application

Anti-JHDM1B Antibody is a rabbit polyclonal antibody for detection of JHDM1B also known as lysine (K)-specific demethylase 2B, F-box protein FBL10, [Histone-H3]-lysine-36 demethylase 1B & has been validated in WB, ICC.
Immunocytochemistry Analysis: A 1:500 dilution from a representative lot detected JHDM1B in NIH/3T3 and HeLa cells.
Immunocytochemistry Analysis: 2 µg/mL from a representative lot detected JHDM1B in A431 cells.

Master regulatory genes require stable silencing by the polycomb group (PcG) to prevent misexpression during differentiation and development. Some PcG proteins covalently modify histones, which contributes to heritable repression. The role for other effects on chromatin structure is less understood.
