General description
Nitric oxide (NO) is an inorganic, gaseous free radical that carries a variety of messages between cells. nNOS/NOS I, also known as NC-NOS, or NOS type I, or Neuronal NOS, or Peptidyl-cysteine S-nitrosylase NOS1 and bNOS produces nitric oxide (NO) which is a messenger molecule with diverse functions throughout the body. In the brain and peripheral nervous system, NO displays many properties of a neurotransmitter. NOS I has been suggested to have nitrosylase activity and to mediate cysteine S-nitrosylation of cytoplasmic target proteins such SRR. Vasorelaxation, neurotransmission and cytotoxicity can all be potentiated through cellular response to NO. NO production is mediated by members of the nitric oxide synthase (NOS) family. NOS catalyzes the oxidization of L-arginine to produce L-citrulline and NO. Two constitutive isoforms, brain or neuronal NOS (b or nNOS, type I) & endothelial cell NOS (eNOS, type III), and one inducible isoform (iNOS, type II), have been cloned. Cytokines such as interferon-gamma (IFN), tumor necrosis factor (TNF), interleukin-1 and -2, and lipopolysaccarides (LPS) cause an increase in iNOS mRNA, protein, and activity levels. Protein kinase C-stimulating agents exhibit the same effect on iNOS activity. Human iNOS is regulated by calcium/calmodulin (in contrast with mouse NOS2).
Immunogen
Epitope: Near N-terminus
KLH-conjugated linear peptide corresponding to the near N-terminus of rat nNOS/NOS I.
Application
Anti-nNOS/NOS I Antibody is an antibody against nNOS/NOS I for use in western blotting & IHC (Paraffin).
Immunohistochemistry Analysis: A 1:2,000 dilution from a representative lot detected nNOS/NOS I in rat cerebellum and cerebral cortex tissues, and mouse hippocampus and thalamus tissues.

The role of nitric oxide (NO) in nociceptive transmission at the spinal cord level remains uncertain. Increased activity of spinal N-methyl-d-aspartate (NMDA) receptors contributes to development of chronic pain induced by peripheral nerve injury. In this study, we determined how

At present, the study of the neurotropic activity of polyunsaturated fatty acid ethanolamides (N-acylethanolamines) is becoming increasingly important. N-docosahexaenoylethanolamine (synaptamide, DHEA) is a highly active metabolite of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) with neuroprotective, synaptogenic, neuritogenic, and anti-inflammatory properties in the nervous
