General description

Polo-like Kinase 1 (PLK-1) is a serine/threonine-protein kinase that performs several important functions throughout M phase of the cell cycle, including the regulation of centrosome maturation and spindle assembly, the removal of cohesins from chromosome arms, the inactivation of APC/C inhibitors, and the regulation of mitotic exit and cytokinesis. Expressed PLK-1 protein accumulates to a maximum during the G2 and M phases, declines to a nearly undetectable level following mitosis and throughout G1 phase, and then begins to accumulate again during S phase.

Specificity

PLK1

Immunogen

6His-tagged full length fusion protein corresponding to human polo-like kinase 1 (PLK1). Also called serine-threonine protein kinase PLK.

Application

Anti-PLK1 Antibody, clone 35-206 detects level of PLK1 & has been published & validated for use in WB, IP, IC, IH.
Immunoprecipitation: An independent laboratory has reported that a previous lot of this antibody can be used to immunoprecipitate PLK1.

Immunohisto/immunocytochemistry: An independent laboratory reported that 1 μg/mL of a previous lot of this antibody showed positive immunostaining for PLK1 in paraformaldehyde treated, Triton X-100 fixed cells.

Polo-like kinase 1 (Plk1) has been implicated in mitosis, cytokinesis, and proliferation. The mechanisms that regulate Plk1 expression remain to be elucidated. It is reported that miR-100 targets Plk1 in certain cancer cells. Here, treatment with miR-100 did not affect
