General description

18:0 PEG550 PE is polymer grafted lipid. The molecular weight and exact mass are averages based on the polydispersity of polyethylene glycol (PEG).

Application

18:0 PEG550 PE is suitable for the preparation of 5(6)-carboxyfluorescein-containing PEGylated liposomes (CFL-PEGs) and sensor fabrication. It is also suitable in the preparation of giant vesicles to study its effect on the vesicle properties.

Biochem/physiol Actions

1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine-N-[methoxy(polyethylene glycol (DSPE-PEG) favors micelles formation due to a large hydrophilic head group. The portion of micelles is greater in the pure and polymer conjugated lipid mixture, when the latter concentration is more. The vesicle-to-micelle transition is also affected by the molecular weight of the conjugated polymer.
