General description

18:1 (Δ9-Cis) PC or 1,2-dioleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (DOPC) is an unsaturated phospholipid.[1]
The list of Phosphatidylcholine products offered by Avanti is designed to provide compounds having a variety of physical properties. Products available include short chain (C3-C8 are water soluble and hygroscopic), saturated, multi-unsaturated and mixed acid PC′s. All of the products are purified by HPLC, and special precautions are taken to protect the products for oxidization and hydrolysis.

Application

18:1 (Δ9-Cis) PC (DOPC) has been used for reproducing the supramolecular structure of the synovial fluid.[2] It may also be used in the liposome preparation[3] and in the preparation of planar supported membranes.[4]

Biochem/physiol Actions

18:1 (Δ9-Cis) PC or 1,2-dioleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (DOPC) is mainly used in liposome preparation to deliver drug in to the body.[5] DOPC is used along with 1,2-dihexadecanoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (DPPC) for lipid bilayer generation.[6]
