General description

10:0 PC (DDPC/1,2-didecanoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine) is a zwitterionic and shorter-acyl chain phospholipid.
The list of Phosphatidylcholine products offered by Avanti is designed to provide compounds having a variety of physical properties. Products available include short chain (C3-C8 are water soluble and hygroscopic), saturated, multi-unsaturated and mixed acid PC′s. All of the products are purified by HPLC, and special precautions are taken to protect the products for oxidization and hydrolysis.

Application

10:0 PC (DDPC/1,2-didecanoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine) may be used:
  • as an internal standard to measure lipid metabolites for metabolic profiling using hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography (HILIC)
  • to prepare lipid bilayer to reconstitute Vpu (membrane protein) and for biophysical studies
  • to prepare phospholipid membrane to study lipid-induced conformation of a 27-residue Cry4Ba-α7 peptide

Biochem/physiol Actions

High or low level of phosphatidylcholine (PC) can affect energy metabolism in several organelles.

Helix 7 in the Cry4Ba-pore-forming domain contains conserved Tyr(249) and Phe(264) that are crucially involved in mosquito-larvicidal activity. We have now characterized lipid-induced conformation of a 27-residue Cry4Ba-alpha7 peptide in phospholipid membranes using ATR-FTIR and hydrogen/deuterium (H(+)/D(+)) exchange experiments. ATR-FTIR

In order to investigate the compensation mechanism of a trans-membrane helix in response to hydrophobic mismatch, the tilt and rotation angles of the trans-membrane helix of Vpu aligned in lipid bilayers of various thickness were determined using orientation-dependent frequencies obtained
