General description

18:0 Cy5.5 PE or 1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine-N-(Cyanine 5.5) is a phosphoethanolamine (PE) derivative wherein the amine and hydroxyl groups of PE are substituted with cyanine 5.5 and distearoyl-sn-glycerol.

Application

18:0 Cy5.5 PE has been used in the preparation of fluorescently labelled liposomes, for direct visualization of nitrobenzoxadiazole (NBD)-palmitoyl-CoA association with a liposome. It has also been used to fluorescently label small unilamellar vesicles (SUV) and large unilamellar vesicles (LUV) to study the interaction of viral particles with phospholipids.
