General description
18:1-d7 Lyso PC 1-oleoyl(d7)-2-hydroxy-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine is a deuterated phospholipid. The lipid lysophosphatidylcholine is esterified with oleic acid. Oleic acid harbors the deuterium ions. Lysophosphatidylcholine (LPC) is derived from phosphatidylcholine by the action of enzyme phospholipase A2.
This deuterium labeled lipid is also available in a formulation of multiple lipid standards. The SPLASH™ LIPIDOMIX™ Standard includes all of the major lipid classes at ratios relative to human plasma, allowing one easy internal standard solution to be added to every sample.
Application
18:1-d7 Lyso PC has been used:
- as an internal standard in high performance liquid chromatography electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-ESIMS/MS) for the lipidomics analysis of bone marrow-derived macrophages
- as a component of extraction solvent for lipid isolation from biological samples
- as an internal standard for spiking serum samples for liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS)
Biochem/physiol Actions
Lysophosphatidylcholine (LPC). Elevated levels of LPC is associated with diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. LPC stimulates cytokines and is implicated in allergic disease. It also elicits lysis on membranes.
Packaging
5 mL Clear Glass Sealed Ampule (791643C-1mg)

Phospholipase A2 (sPLA2), pivotal for allergic and inflammatory response, hydrolyses phosphatidylcholine (PC) to lysophosphatidylcholine (LPC). In present study, the role of LPC in allergic airway disease manifestation was studied using mouse model. Balb/c mice were immunized using cockroach extract (CE)

Lysophosphatidylcholine (LPC) is increasingly recognized as a key marker/factor positively associated with cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases. However, findings from recent clinical lipidomic studies of LPC have been controversial. A key issue is the complexity of the enzymatic cascade involved in
