Application

Poly(2,2,3,3,4,4,4-heptafluorobutyl methacrylate) is a fluorinated polymer used to develop low refractive index optical materials and various optoelectronics including organic photovoltaics, organic field-effect transistors (OFETs), and polymer light-emitting diodes because of its high mechanical strength, high thermal stability, chemical inertness, low dielectric constants, and low water absorptivity.
It is also used to prepare poly[2-(N-carbazolyl)ethyl methacrylate]-block-poly[(2,2,3,3,4,4,4-heptafluorobutyl methacrylate)] (CbzEMAx-b-HFBMAy) diblock copolymers by reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization. The availability of a low-surface-energy fluorinated block and an electro-active carbazole fragment in diblock copolymers confers crucial properties for the fabrication of high-quality and high-performance functional thin films.
Low refractive index polymer for cladding layer in optical waveguides. Transparent, low surface tension polymer.
