General description

Poly(4,5-difluoro-2,2-bis(trifluoromethyl)-1,3-dioxole-co-tetrafluoroethylene)(AF2400) is a fluorinated polymer that formed by copolymerization of 4,5-difluoro-2,2-(trifluoromethyl)-1,3-dioxole(PDD) and tetrafluoroethylene(TFE). It has a relatively high glass transition temperature(Tg) and optical transparency which allows it be a photo-stable polymer that can be used for a wide range of coating application in electronic and electrochemical industry.
A tunable, polymeric, photonic material.

Application

AF2400 dissolved in supercritical CO2 as a solvent can be used as an activated layer that forms an electrode for fuel cell applications. It may be used in the fabrication of organic nanofiltration membrane with polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE) that can be used in the extraction of hexane from crude mixture of soybean oil. Nanocomposites of silver nanoparticles(AgNPs) may be formed by incorporating AF2400 via vapour phase co-deposition process that can be used in surface enhanced raman spectroscopy sensors and color filters.
Optoelectronic devices for optical clarity, low-refractive index coating for optical devices, protective coating for chemical resistance, release coating, and sight window for harsh chemical environments.

Features and Benefits

High gas permeability, high compressibility, good creep resistance, low thermal conductivity, transparent to microwaves and the lowest dielectric constant of any known fluoropolymer.

Physical form

Amorphous copolymer.
