    Chitosan is insoluble in water or organic solvents.  Hazy solutions can be prepared in 1 M acetic acid (10 mg/ml), but extensive sonication may be required to fully suspend and dissolve the material.  It is also soluble in dilute acidic aqueous solvents.

    We offer three different sizes of chitosan.  Our low molecular weight chitosan (Product 448869) is 50,000-190,000 Da.  Our medium molecular weight chitosan (Product 448877) is 190,000-310,000 Da.  Our high molecular weight chitosan (Product 419419) is ~310,000 TO >375,000 Da.
