转铁蛋白（TF）属于双环糖蛋白家族，其可结合三价铁。蛋白质的同源N-和C-叶具有存在于深隙中的单个铁结合位点。编码TF的基因位于人染色体3q22.1上。

应用

人全转铁蛋白已被用于：
  • 菌落形成检测
  • 转染的HEK-293（人胚肾）细胞或骨髓细胞中转铁蛋白的摄取和再循环
  • 制备促黄体化和非黄体化的颗粒细胞

生化/生理作用

研究表明，用全转铁蛋白（其可增加细胞内的铁水平和青蒿素衍生物）共同处理乳腺癌细胞会增加细胞的死亡。
转铁蛋白（TF）是血液中的铁转运蛋白。铁通过与循环转铁蛋白结合而在血清中进行转运，转铁蛋白又可与细胞表面上的受体进行结合。在碱性细胞外pH7.4的条件下，TF可结合一个或两个铁离子。铁结合的TF分子可与二聚体转铁蛋白受体（TfR）结合。在该pH下，TfR无法识别无铁转铁蛋白。随后便为TfR的内吞途径，其中整个复合物通过胞吞作用进入细胞内。随着细胞中pH的降低，铁会从TF中释放出来。然后复合物返回细胞表面，apo-TF分子与受体分离。
