芳香酶是细胞色素P450酶超家族的成员。细胞色素P450蛋白是单加氧酶，可催化涉及药物代谢以及胆固醇、类固醇和其他脂质合成的许多反应。该蛋白位于内质网并且可以催化雌激素生物合成的最后步骤。此基因的突变可导致芳香酶活性增加或降低；相关的表型表明，雌激素既能发挥性类固醇激素的作用，又具有生长或分化的作用。可变启动子使用可变剪接，产生具有不同组织特异性的多个转录变体
特点和优势
CypExpress 19A1也称为芳香酶，是一种经过透化和稳定的干燥酵母粉制剂，含有全长、未修饰的人CYP 19A1和重组人NADPH氧化还原酶。CypExpress采用独有工艺，在毕赤酵母中表达。经过最佳表达后，将细胞灭活、透化和干燥，得到细粉。CypExpress保留了细胞机制，可为P450酶提供能量和辅助因子，可继续用于长期实验，并且能够比哺乳动物微粒体或其他基因工程表达系统产生更多的代谢产物。它专用于快速筛选药物代谢产物以及用于放大代谢产物的生成。
