Biochem/physiol Actions

α-MSH(黑素细胞刺激激素)和黑皮质素-4受体(MC4R)是控制能量稳态和下丘脑对肥胖反应的关键信号成分。减少-MSH功能活性的突变导致哺乳动物肥胖,缺乏MC4受体(MC4R-/-)的小鼠会暴食和非常肥胖表明MC4-R转导的-MSH信号传导限制了食物摄入和体内脂肪质量。
α-黑素细胞刺激素(α-MSH)刺激黑素细胞生成黑色素并诱导色素沉着和皮肤变黑。它增加了诱导黑色素生成的酪氨酸酶的活性。α-MSH具有强效的抗炎作用,也是一种神经调节剂。α-MSH的类似物可用于研究黑色素生成和神经调节。
