一般描述

与二碘酪氨酸偶联的碘酪氨酸可合成 3,5,3′-三碘甲状腺原氨酸 (T3) 或 3,3′,5′-三碘甲状腺原氨酸 (rT3)。

应用

3-碘-L-酪氨酸已作为酪氨酸羟化酶的抑制剂用于 果蝇 和蚕蛹。

生化/生理作用

3-碘酪氨酸 (3-IY) 抑制酪氨酸羟化酶,后者催化酪氨酸形成左旋多巴。严重甲减和甲状腺肿时,碘酪氨酸脱碘酶缺乏导致血清和尿中 3-IY 水平升高。
TH(酪氨酸 3-羟化酶)负责催化去甲肾上腺素能生物合成途径的第一步。TH 突变 与酪氨酸羟化酶缺乏相关,导致诸如婴儿型帕金森综合征和多巴( 多巴胺 )反应性肌张力障碍以及围产期发病的脑病。
