一般描述

L-谷氨酸在发育、学习、记忆、可塑性和认知中起着关键作用。它在神经病理学疾病的发病机制中起着至关重要的作用,例如癫痫、精神分裂症、中风、缺血、肌萎缩侧索硬化症(amyotrophic lateral sclerosis),、廷顿舞蹈病和帕金森病。谷氨酸还负责长时程增强(LTP)和长时程抑郁(LTD)的激活。谷氨酸受体的诱导在偏头痛的病理生理学中起着关键作用。
