应用

甘油被用于聚丙烯酰胺凝胶电泳的样品制备和凝胶形成。甘油（5-10％）可增加样品的密度，使样品在凝胶样品孔的底部分层。甘油还可用于帮助浇注梯度凝胶以及作为蛋白质稳定剂和储存缓冲液的组分。

生化/生理作用

甘油具有吸湿性，并且因其具有三个亲水性醇羟基而可溶于水。它可以形成分子间和分子内氢键，使其成为一种非常灵活的分子。 甘油的生理作用是由细胞介导的免疫、增加IgG产生和增加组胺释放造成的。
甘油已被用作：
  • 结核分枝杆菌和 鸟分枝杆菌 细胞培养过程中的补充剂。
  • 酶生物燃料电池设计过程的燃料。
  • 在分析中性和酸性聚糖时，与4-HCCA和3-氨基喹啉一起作为液体复合基质。
