髓鞘蛋白P0也称为外周髓鞘蛋白(MPP)和髓鞘蛋白零(MPZ)。髓鞘蛋白P0仅在外周神经系统中发现,并参与细胞外膜表面的形成,该表面引导包裹过程,最终促使相邻薄片的压实。髓鞘蛋白P0与多种疾病状态有关,包括Charcot-Marie-Tooth病1B(CMT1B),Charcot-Marie-Tooth病2I(CMT2I),Charcot-Marie-Tooth病2J(CMT2J),强直性瞳孔(ADIEP),Charcot-Marie-Tooth病,显性,中间型,D(CMTDID),德热里纳-索塔斯综合征(DSS),先天性髓鞘发育不良神经病(CHN)和Roussy-Levy综合征(ROULS)。
