General description

胶质纤维酸性蛋白（GFAP）是一种III类中间丝。III型中间丝包含三个结构域，其中最保守的是杆结构域。蛋白此区域的特定序列在III型蛋白的不同中间丝基因之间可能有所不同，但蛋白的结构高度保守。GFAP是星形胶质细胞中间丝的主要成分，并且是一种细胞特异性标记，可在中枢神经系统发育过程中将分化的星形胶质细胞与其他神经胶质细胞区分开。 GFAP也存在于晶状体上皮，肝脏的库普弗细胞，涎腺肿瘤的某些细胞中，并已报告在红细胞中。
