General description
Integrin beta-3 is a member of the Integrin receptor family. The integrin family has been shown to be instrumental in cell adhesion to extracellular matrix proteins and can be found in certain cell to cell adhesions. Integrins are also important in transmembrane connections and intracellular signaling. Integrins are key to understanding many human diseases as they are commonly the receptors. Integrins have been linked to many different parts of cellular operations including; development, immunity, leukocyte traffic, homeostasis and even cancer. Once integrin beta-3 is activated, it binds fibrinogen which causes platelet to platelet interaction effectively cutting off a ruptured endothelial surface.

We retrospectively evaluated 48 essential thrombocythemia (ET) patients who were treated in our institute (male/female, 14/34, median age, 61.5 years). In 14 patients treated with anagrelide (ANA), the degree of platelet count reduction (median, -56.6%) was strongly correlated with increase

Ever since Stephen Paget's 1889 hypothesis, metastatic organotropism has remained one of cancer's greatest mysteries. Here we demonstrate that exosomes from mouse and human lung-, liver- and brain-tropic tumour cells fuse preferentially with resident cells at their predicted destination, namely

We identified a novel heterozygous ITGB3 p.T720del mutation in a pedigree with macrothrombocytopenia exhibiting aggregation dysfunction. Platelet aggregation induced by ADP and collagen was significantly reduced, while ristocetin aggregation was normal. Integrin αIIbβ3 was partially activated in a resting status

Integrin αvβ3 expression is altered in various diseases and has been proposed as a drug target. Here we use a rational design approach to develop a therapeutic protein, which we call ProAgio, that binds to integrin αvβ3 outside the classical

Melanoma cells use different migratory strategies to exit the primary tumor mass and invade surrounding and subsequently distant tissues. We reported previously that ADAR1 expression is downregulated in metastatic melanoma, thereby facilitating proliferation. Here we show that ADAR1 silencing enhances
